Almond Cookies

Hello Everyone!

I am so excited because Chris and I just moved to the Bay Area!  Yay! There is so much to do (and eat) here that my enthusiasm is hard to contain.  Already, we have had the best Thai food that my tastebuds have ever encountered.
I am also ecstatic to once again have my own kitchen!  This means that there will be more recipes to post, so you guys should be excited about that too.

Today, I am making cookies.  These are my favorite cookies to make, and go fabulously with hot tea (especially Earl Gray or Sweet Orange Spice).

I fell in love with these cookies as a little girl because my aunt always made them for her Christmas open house.  She even adds food coloring to make them red and green...very festive.

Ingredients:
1 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup canola oil
2 tsp almond extract
4-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
pinch of salt

Here is what you do:

Preheat your oven to 350

Cream together the butter and sugar.
Add the oil (and food coloring if you wish)
Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together. Add to mixture.
I use a 1-1/2 Tbsp cookie scoop to get nice, even amounts of dough. My aunt rolls them into balls and presses the middle down with her thumb.  Either way you prefer, they will turn out deliciously.

Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes. The bottoms should be starting to turn a nice golden color.

That's all there is to these scrumptious cookies.  I hope you all give them a try!

Tea Time

Wow! It seems like years since I posted the last 'tea time'. I am way overdue for some inspirational goodness, and knew I could not pass upfor the opportunity to share this message from my afternoon cup of tea.
I hope it is something that we can all remember!

Tea Time

It is Thursday!!!  Also, for everyone in the USA, it is only a week until Thanksgiving!  That is my favorite holiday because I enjoy hearing what others are thankful for, as well as expressing what I am thankful for.  Another plus is that the food is delicious!

I am having a pretty good week, and  am working on custom crochet orders that people are placing for Christmas! Have you placed your order yet?  Place them now by visiting my shop, here or emailing me (pssst...the email is over on the right)!

If you want to enter to win a crocheted cowl, I have a contest that is starting today (11/15/2012) for a fabulous piece.  Head on over to our Facebook page, here, 'like' us and look for the contest album.

I think we have strolled off on a tangent!  Back to business...

Today, my morning tea is extra delicious, and I think it has something to do with the fortune it had.

Let's break through our limits by letting our ego go!  This is what I am striving for, for myself.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Tea Time

Happy November!!!

Can you believe that it is already November, and that in two months it will be 2013?!?!  That is mind boggling for me!  Since it is November, that means it is a month of remembering what we are thankful for.  Something that we should do all year long, but is actually brought to the fore front of our minds by Thanksgiving (at least here in the USA).

With that being said, I was truly filled with happiness when I read my tea fortune last night!  I love my life, but I am a planner, and right now there is not much that I can plan out.  This drives me crazy, and makes it feel that I am not accomplishing anything.  Hopefully, the dust will soon settle and I will know where I can grow some roots down and finish my education.  Until then, I need to remember what I do have, and all of the things that I am still accomplishing.

That is where last night's tea fortune comes in.

So, as Dory would say "Just keep swimming!"

Tea Time

Another Monday is upon and that means it is 'tea time'!
Yes, it is that time of week again!  The time where I share with you the wisdom from one of my Yogi tea.

I don't know about you guys, but I love tea.  Especially the Yogi tea because it is like a fortune cookie mixed with tea....and who doesn't like getting the fortune from fortune cookies?

This is a great tea fortune!  It is important not to get so wrapped up in our lives that we forget that there are others who need our help.  Maybe they just need our love and support, or maybe they need something else. I believe that when you give what you can, when you can, then you will be given what you need, when you need it.

Tea Time

Happy Sunday!!!

It has been a great weekend so far, here on the sunny California coast.  I have been working on headbands and a baby afghan to sell in my new Etsy shop ChirpinBirdie.  There are some crochet scarves and headbands already available...stop by and take a look!

I am blogging today because I feel the need to share some wisdom from my Yogi tea.  I don't know about you, but I could always use some words of inspiration!

This helps me to remember to give all that I have in every situation, and not dwell on things I want or think I need.  I hope this inspires you too!

Tea Time

Hello All!

I know that I am a day late again...sorry about that!  I got caught up in the weekend because Christopher is finally home!  It is great not only to have him back in the United States, but also in California again (it has been two years since he moved out of CA).

So, that is my excuse...Christopher is home and we were able to enjoy the beach together again!

It is so nice to have our family together again!

My boys :)

Jixer likes roasted seaweed, but the raw seaweed must taste funny.

And even though it is Tuesday, here is your Yogi Tea wisdom for the week.

I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Tea Time

Happy Monday!

I hope all of you in the U.S. enjoyed the long weekend.

My weekend started with both Jixer and I getting groomed on Friday.  I went had my haircut and Jixer got the full treatment at the doggie spa.

I had a blast at Brews and Bites in San Luis Obispo yesterday, and have spent Saturday and today painting furniture.  All in all a great way to spend the weekend.

Here is a picture yesterday at the 4th annual Brews and Bites.  It was so much fun!

But today is Monday and that means our weekly wisdom from my Yogi tea.

Just like Aladdin asked Jasmine: "When did you last let your heart decide?"

Tea Time

Hello All!

I know I missed the regular 'Tea Time' post on Monday...sorry! I was going tosee wait until next week to post, but this when I was making my tea tonight I just fell in love with the words.
Sorry, the photo is not of the best quality; this post is being done from my phone (including the picture).

Tea Time

Happy Monday!
Another week is upon us and we should all be thankful that we have the opportunity to enjoy this new week. As I am going through all of the tiny pieces of paper with words of wisdom and encouragement, I am amazed how such a little piece of paper from my tea can stand out to me and enlighten me to how lucky I am.

Tea Time

Happy Monday!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!  My weekend was filled with Legoland, beer pairing dinner, and the beach; it does not get much better than that.

Today's tea wisdom is from my tea last night, and I do not think it could have come at a better time.

I hope that I can remember this through my new endeavours.  If this speaks to you, I hope you are able to keep this in mind too!

Have a wonderful week!

Tea Time

Hello Everyone!!!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  I had one of the best weekends ever!  It entailed the Mammoth Festival of Beer and Blues, as well as a trip to Bodie State Park.  I will do a post tomorrow with pictures and more details...I am still sorting through the several hundred pictures snapped with my camera.

Since today is Monday, it is time for some tea time wisdom.

So here it is...

May we all remember to embrace these characteristics.  We can all make our own world a better place, and together change the world.

Tea Time

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend?  I had a wonderful weekend and very much enjoyed my sister's 30th birthday party.  I have also been enjoying the Olympic games.

I know that it has been a few weeks since I have posted a 'Tea Time' segment, and that is only because I do not remember it is Monday, until it is Wednesday.  I apologize for the absence, but I promise I will keep better track of my days!

I just love this statement on my Yogi tea! It really speaks for what I am striving for at this point in my life.

I hope that you all have an excellent week!  I will be back later in the week with another recipe for you to enjoy.

Tea Time

Happy Monday Everyone!!!

This is an especially happy Monday for me because it is my birthday!  Not just a birthday, but my golden birthday!  For that reason, I wanted to pick a quote today that I can remember all year long.

I think this fits the bill.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

It is also Memorial Day, so let us remember those who allow us to live the lives we lead in America.

Tea Time

Wow!  It completely slipped my mind that today is Monday!  Sorry for the late Monday post.

I think this is perfect for this week!  In more ways than one. Always be proud of yourself!  After all, you are the only you, and you are the only person that knows the complete circumstances of your life.  So do not let others bring you down with their actions or words, just because they THINK they know.

As always, best wishes for a wonderful week!
