Feathered Yoga Mat Bag

Happy Saturday!

It has only been a few days since I came up with this pattern, but because I was struck down with a vicious cold, it seems like it has taken me forever to type it up for you guys.  I am feeling better, and am enjoying a nice cuppa while writing this post.

This is by far my favorite yoga mat bag that I have made...so much so, that I am keeping this blue one for myself!

You will need:
7 ounces/ 240 yards of worsted weight yarn
5.0 mm crochet hook
large needle
scissors

Abbreviations:
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet

Strap Pattern:

ch 8

Row 1: hdc in second ch from hook and in each ch across (7hdc)

Row 2: ch 1, sc in first st, skip 2 stitches, 7 dc in next stitch, skip two stitches, sc in last stitch

Row 3: ch 6 (counts as first dc and chain 3), sc in 4th dc of 7dc cluster from previous row, ch 3, dc in last sc

Row 4: ch 1, sc in first stitch, 7 dc in sc from previous row, sc in 3rd chain from turning chain of previous row

Repeat rows 3 & 4 until you have 16 total fans (7dc clusters), end with a row 3

Last Row: ch 1, hdc in first stitch and in next 6 stitches across, fasten off (7hdc)

Bag Pattern:

ch 2

Round 1: 8 hdc in second ch from hook, sl st into first hdc (8hdc)

Round 5: ch 1, (1 hdc in first 3 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch) repeat 7 times, sl st into first hdc (40 hdc)

Round 6: ch 1, (1 hdc in first 4 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch) repeat 7 times, sl st into first hdc (48 hdc)

Round 7: ch 1, sc in same space, *skip two stitches, 7 dc in next stitch, skip two stitches, sc in next stitch* repeat from *to** around ending with a 7dc cluster and sl st into first sc

Round 8: ch 6 (counts as first dc and ch 3), *sc in 4th dc of 7dc cluster, ch 3, dc in next sc, ch 3** repeat from *to** around ending with sc in top of 7dc cluster, sl st into 3 ch of beginning chain 6

Round 9: ch 3 (counts as first dc), 6 dc in same space, *sc in sc from previous round, 7dc in dc from previous round** repeat from *to** ending with sc in last sc, sl st into 3rd ch from beginning ch 3

Repeat rows 8 & 9 until bag measures about 25" (or long enough to accommodate your yoga mat). I also ended with a row 9 repeat, so my bag has a pretty scalloped edge.

I hope you guys enjoy this pattern!

As always, feel free to use this pattern for your personal use.  You may also sell finished products you make with this pattern, but please, link back to this blog as the source of the pattern.  Thank you kindly!

Bubble Yoga Mat Bag

Happy Weekend Everyone!!!

I hope you all have great plans for your weekend.  For me it is going to be filled with errands, crocheting and playing with my puppy.  If you don't have a project yet, it is a good thing you stopped by.  I have a wonderful yoga mat bag pattern that I made yesterday and it is easy and works up super fast.

I know your saying to yourself, 'Another yoga mat bag?'....well, YES!  After I made the first one for Shawna her husband threatened to steal it from her, and I just couldn't let that happen.

This time though, I designed the bag myself instead of going off of someone else's pattern.

Here it is...

Bubble Yoga Mat Bag

What you will need:
     - 1 skein of Loops and Thread Impeccable (3.5oz/192yards)
     - size H/5.00mm crochet hook
     - size K/6.5mm crochet hook
Abbreviations:
     ch = chain
     sp = space
     ss = slip stitch
     dc = double crochet
     sc = single croceht

Body of Bag:

ch 43

Row 1 = dc in 4th chain from hook, *ch5, skip 5ch, 1 dc in next 3 ch* repeat from *to*, end with 1 dc in last two ch, turn

Row 2 = ch 3, 9dc in each ch 5 loop, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn

Row 3 = ch 5, skip first 4 dc, 1 dc in next 3 dc (dc # 4,5 and 6 in 9 dc set), *ch 5, skip 6 dc, 1 dc in next 3 dc* repeat from *to* until 4 dc left,  ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in last dc and 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch

Row 4 = ch 3, 4 dc in ch 2 sp, 9 dc in each 5ch sp, 4 dc in ch 5 turning chain, 1dc in 3rd ch of turning ch

Row 5 = ch 3, 1 dc in 2nd dc of row *ch 5, skip 6 dc, 1 dc in next 3 dc (dc # 4,5 and 6 in 9 dc set)* repeat from *to* ending with ch 5, skip 6 dc, 1 dc in last dc, 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch

For pattern repeat rows 2-5 until desired height, about 4-5 inches taller than yoga mat.  Remember that once your yoga mat is in the bag it will stretch slightly.
This is what the tube looks like after joining the two edges.

Bottom of Bag:

ch 4, ss in first ch to form ring

Row 1 = ch 3, 2dc in ring, ch 1 *3dc in ring, ch 1* repeat from *to* 4 times, ss into 3rd ch (5 clusters of 3 dc) turn

Row 2 = ch 3, 4 dc in ch 1 sp, ch1, *5dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1* repeat from *to* 4 times, ss into 3rd ch (5 clusters of 5 dc) turn

Row 3 = ch 3, 4 dc in ch 1 sp, ch 2, *5dc in ch 1 sp, ch 2* repeat from *to* 4 times, ss into 3rd ch (5 clusters of 5 dc)

Finish Off
It turns out like a pentagon, but once attached to the tube will become circular :)

Now is the time to assemble the bag. Fold the body of the bag in half and sc down open edge to form long tube.  Don't finish off, Place the circle at opening of tube and sc around circle and bottom of tube to attach bottom. Turn tube inside out so that the joining sc are on the inside of bag.
Here is what the bag looks like after the bottom is attached.

The bag is almost done, we just need a strap and drawstring!

Strap:

Row 1 = ss around bottom of bag in a ch sp opening, ch 1, 6 sc, turn

Row 2 = ch 2, 1 dc in each sc

This is the attachment at the bottom of the bag.

Here is the attachment at the top of the bag

Repeat row 2 until strap is long enough to attach to top of bag, about 4-5 inches from top.  Sc through 6 dc from body of bag.  I attached my strap to cover the side of the bag that was joined with sc, and attached at top of bag with 3 sc on either side of the seam.
Finish off and weave in ends.

Drawstring:
With K hook, ch 71
Row 1 = sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch sp across (70 sc)

 Finish off and weave in end.  Weave the drawstring through openings at top of bag and tie in a bow.

That is all there is to it my friend!  You now have your very own stylish yoga mat bag!

I hope you enjoy it Garrett!

Yoga Mat Bag

Hello All!

Over the last couple days I have been working on a yoga mat bag, and I have to say I LOVE it!  I found it as a free pattern on Ravelry....don't you just adore that website, I know I do!!!
This pattern looks so awesome and it was super easy!
For the pattern click here

Here is some pictures of the one I made:

I made it in a dark purple and put a lovely orange flower on the bottom for a pop of color.

I used my purple yoga mat to stretch the bag and to give the bag structure for taking the pictures, but this bag will be even more awesome once Shawna gets it and uses it for her red mat.

I hope you enjoy it Shawna!!!
