Adventures of the Traveling Wiener

 Hello!

It has been a while since Jixer's last adventure, but this was sure worth the wait!  This weekend, Jixer and I went to visit Christopher in San Francisco.  The really exciting part, is that the Bay Area of California is soon to be our new home, so there will be much more exploring in the weeks to come!

Jixer enjoyed our long walk through SF!  We estimate that he probably walked 100 'wiener miles' on Sunday.

Of course, we took some breaks!
Here, we stopped for a rest at the beautiful, Golden Gate Park.

Jixer is enjoying his rest at the beach, and wishing he can play in the water.

He really loved the food in the Bay Area!  Here he is eating a hard boiled egg at a little coffee shop near Golden Gate Park.

Jixer also got to spend some time in his carrier.

The Golden Gate Bridge is not the only site we found on our jaunt around SF.  We came across San Francisco's City Hall.

We also found an awesome windmill surrounded by beautiful flowers.  Although, we did not go into the garden since dogs are not allowed.

Even though we did not get to see the flowers surrounding the windmill, we did come across some beautiful flowers on our trek.

Jixer also took advantage of some public transportation.

Jixer is relaxing on the BART ride from Berkeley to Downtown San Francisco.

After we ended up clear across the city on our walk, we decided to take a cab back to the hotel.  Jixer was happy to take advantage of a relaxing car ride by taking a nap.

Jixer enjoyed our stay at the Parc 55.

His favorite seat in the room was the ottoman where he could look out on the city.

Jixer figured that he might as well splurge while on vacation, so he decided to treat himself with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in Berkeley.

His favorite part of the trip was seeing his dad!  We both have missed him terribly the past couple of months.

Of course, we could not pass up a family photo with the beautiful bay and Golden Gate Bridge in the background.

We had a great weekend together, and cannot wait to officially move to the Bay and do more exploring.

Jixer was very tired on our way home, and made himself comfortable on his crochet blankie in the passenger seat of my car.

Until the Next Adventure

Adventure of the Traveling Wiener

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all have been enjoying the day!  It is laundry day for me, so it is not my favorite day of the week. At least, I have the job looking at all of the pictures from the mini vacation Chris and I took last week, and now I get to share Jixer's first camping trip!

We had a friend from Canada come down for a visit, and spent most of last week in Silicon Valley having fun and being touristy, including visiting the Facebook, Google, Apple, and Stanford campuses.  We had a great time, but decided that we needed to go camping.  Who doesn't love camping?  Especially, camping in California, because we have so many amazing spots to see.

We made the drive from Silicon Valley to San Luis Obispo, and decided to take the Hwy 1 scenic route.  Of course, it was gorgeous, as it always is!  We decided to do the easy camping spot at Lopez Lake, since we would only be down in the area for one night.

Boy, did Jixer enjoy his first time camping!

Here he is waiting to be let out of the tent in the morning.

This was our home for the night.

Big brother Max came camping too, and he always loves camping and spending time outdoors.

We had some neighbors that Jixer did not like!  He would let out a couple of barks every time he caught a glimpse of one (he usually does not bark).

Here he is just sniffing around.

Watching the deer, since he got into trouble for barking.

Jixer kept trying to climb this steep hillside; there must have been good smelling things up there.  Can you spot him?  He is mid-left in the picture.  I know, he is hard to see up there because of his coloring and small stature!

Always a happy puppy when he wakes up in the morning!

Jixer is sad that we only spent one night camping, and cannot wait until the next adventure!

Adventures of the Traveling Wiener

Happy Saturday!

Whether you are having a busy weekend or a laid back weekend, I hope that you are having a wonderful time!  Jixer and I made a visit to my grandma today.  Jixer always enjoys trips to grandma's house because she feeds him multi-grain Cheerios.  It was a beautiful California afternoon, so Jixer and I were able to hang out outside and take pictures of some of grandma's pretty flowers.

Jixer very much enjoyed all of the new smells and flowers.

There are so many pretty flowers at grandma's house!

This cute little frog is also a resident in grandma's garden.

Jixer and I hope that you have a wonderful Sunday!

~Best Wishes~

Adventures of the Traveling Wiener

Jixer is out and about again, and he is having fun exploring a new beach.

Sunday, my friend Kaley and I decided it would be a great beach day and of course Jixer came along.  It was a beautiful day and everybody else decided to go to the beach too!  Avila Beach was jammed packed with people (tourists), so we decided to venture over to Shell Beach.  It had been a long time since I walked on Shell Beach, and the last time I was there, it was at night to do some night exposures.

It is a great beach!  The only thing that is different is that there is no sand, so it is a little rough on bare feet.

Shell Beach is the only beach of its kind in our area.

Jixer had a great time playing in the waves...and running from them!

He put his nose down and sniffed in every crevice.

He was covered in the tiny pebbles by the days end.

I just imagine him thinking "Girls, PLEASE! I know I am cute but can the photo shoot be over already!"

Kaley and I were both snapping pictures of little Jixer!

There were several pelicans out catching their dinner, and Jixer enjoyed watching them fly around and diving into the water.

I am pretty sure this Montana born dog is a true beach bum at heart!

Adventures of the Traveling Wiener

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

I hope you all are doing well!!! I know that I have not been on here too much lately, but hopefully that will be changing.  Earlier this week, I took Jixer, and my niece and nephew to Waller Park.  I love this park!  I have been going here for a long as I can remember!

Jixer enjoyed watching the squirrels scurry about.

The squirrels, however, did not show the same appreciation for Jixer, and made sure to keep a close eye on him.

Like always, Jixer found a tasty stick to munch on.

Jixer also kept a close eye on the kids as they played on one of the playgrounds.

Of course, he can't be expected to watch the kids all afternoon!

It was a beautiful, California afternoon!  There was also a pretty halo around the sun.

The kiddos enjoyed climbing in the trees.
I cannot believe how big the kids are; they are growing up so fast.

Kyra is eight and will be in the 3rd grade this year.

Cody is six, and will be going into the 2nd grade!

We had a wonderful day at the park.  As I said earlier, this is a wonderful park to visit.  There is four playgrounds, a two duck ponds (watch out for the mean geese that will chase you if you have a bag!!!), several areas to have a bbq, the best disc golf course, and one of the best dog parks in town.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

~Best Wishes~
