Tea Time

Happy Monday!!!

I hope that you had a great weekend!  I had a fabulous Saturday, at Firestone Walker Brewing Company's Oaktoberfest held at the Avila Beach Golf Resort.  It does not get much better than a beer festival with 80 degree weather and a view of the beach.

Going Clockwise:

1- I am giving Christopher a smooch, and he is quite happy!

2 - I was sad that I did not dress up, so I took my picture with two pretty ladies who did.

5 - Chris and me cheering each other with our first beer of the day.

I know that it has been a couple of weeks since I posted about Yogi wisdom, so I thought that I better get back into the swing of things.

Please, do not forget to include yourself in the 'all' stated!  You are very important and need to take care of yourself along with others.  Maybe make your 'tea time' into 'me time'.  Enjoying a hot cup of tea in your own spot to reflect on your needs can be very rewarding.  Do not let your needs become lost!

Hair Clip Organizer

Hello Everyone!!!

It is Thursday!  That is only exciting for me because it means that there is only one more day until Firestone Walkers Oaktoberfest in Avila Beach, and I have been looking forward to it for a couple of months!

But, that is another blog.  Today I wanted to share with all of you my latest craft project.  I noticed that I have not posted about crochet projects in a while, and that is a little weird since it seems like crocheting is all that I have been doing lately.  I will be doing another post soon with all of the projects that I have been working on lately.

For now, we will stick with the hair clip organizer that I made today.

I desperately needed a place to hang my crochet flower clips because I am always leaving them in random places, and that makes it very difficult to find them when I want to wear them again!

So I went to the Goodwill and found this fabulously, simple wooden frame for $.90!  I had a little bit of yellow paint laying around, so I figured I would give it a quick coat to spruce it up a little.

It had a pane of glass loosely attached when I bought it, but I removed it and saved it for a later project yet to be determined.

The next step was to grab a skein of scrap yarn.  Oh boy, do I have plenty to choose from! Especially since I was just given three more boxes of yarn from my Great-Grandma Margaret.  There is definitely no yarn shortage at my house, yet I still always find myself needing a color that I do not have.  Therefore, I make many trips to Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts!

Moving on.....

The rest was even easier!  I simply crocheted a square with an asymmetrical shell pattern with a 6.5mm hook.

This is how it fit in the frame before being stretched out.

I first stretched it out against the bottom of the frame and used my handy-dandy staple gun to secure the yarn to the frame about every 1-1/2".

Next I stretched the yarn to the top two corners and secured with staples.

And again, secured the yarn to the top with a staple about every 1-1/2".

The only thing left to do was pull the sides taut and staple them down.

This is what it looks like from the back after all of the staples are punched in.

Flip it over, and...

TA-DAH!!!

The project is finished, and all that is left is to hang it on the wall.

Yes!  I did crochet flowers and hot glue them to a $10 Walmart mirror to make it cute.  I have mentioned that I am addicted to crocheting, right?!

Tea Time

Hello All!

I know that I am a day late again...sorry about that!  I got caught up in the weekend because Christopher is finally home!  It is great not only to have him back in the United States, but also in California again (it has been two years since he moved out of CA).

 So, that is my excuse...Christopher is home and we were able to enjoy the beach together again!

It is so nice to have our family together again!
